Enslaved of John McFaddin, Slaveholder, Sumter County, South Carolina

The will of John McFaddin of Sumter County, SC, was made 1826 and probated 1827.  In it McFaddin divided his Negroes into fourths for his children: John, Thomas, Sarah, and Robert McFaddin.

...to my son Robert H McFaddin 1/4 all lands, 1/4 all Negroes and this family of Negroes I here name to be part of his lot of Negroes: Jule, Doll, fortune, Charles, Jacob, Hannah, Peter and child Amarintha and Old Hannah. .... if son Robert dies then Negroes be divided equally between his uncles and aunts.
